The eTrade for Women Advocates:
Women trailblazers shaping the digital economy
The eTrade for Women Advocates are a select group of influential women business leaders appointed by the UNCTAD Secretary‑General. They serve as role models who champion women’s perspectives in digital trade and inspire the next generation of women digital entrepreneurs. Through their leadership, support and visibility, the Advocates elevate women’s voices in the digital economy and help shape more inclusive digital ecosystems.
Who is this Advocate call for?
To be eligible to apply as an Advocate, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Be a highly successful woman founder of a digital business
- Have at least 5 years of entrepreneurial leadership
- Demonstrate community impact and a strong commitment to women’s empowerment and leadership
- Be based in English-speaking Africa, Francophone Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, South Asia or South-East Asia and the Pacific

- Role of the Advocates
Advocates will have the opportunity to:
- Engage with policymakers to inform and influence decision-making at the regional and global level.
- Participate in high-level international events to increase their visibility as thought leaders in the digital economy, including through media exposure.
- Join a unique community of women digital leaders.
- Expand partnerships and business opportunities.
- Align their work with UN efforts on women’s empowerment and sustainable development.

Advocates contribute to the mission of eTrade for Women through three main areas:
- Advocacy & Policy Dialogue
Engage in key policy processes and international fora to ensure women's voices shape digital economy policies at regional and global levels.
- Inspire & Empower
Share their entrepreneurial journey and collaborate with UNCTAD to design and lead capacity-building activities, including the e Trade for Women Masterclasses.
- Connect
Mobilize partners, talent, and networks to strengthen collaboration and accelerate impact within their regions.
- Advocacy & Policy Dialogue
